Laxmipur Sadar Upazila canal re-excavation and renovation project has been raised with serious allegations against a contractor for lifting the entire bill without any work done. Allegations have been made against the concerned engineer of LGED that the money has been withdrawn through the intent.
According to the local government engineering department (LGED) sources, the cover of the ‘IPCP’ project is P2D canal of Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila (0.00 m. to 1095.27 m. and P to D 1/1 canal (0.00 m. from 2397.601 m.) The total contract price of this work was 30 lakh 3 thousand 536 taka under the initiative of renovation and construction of the infrastructure (bed block and TBM).
According to the attached document, tender notification number is given to a contractor named Ammar Traders through IPCP/LAXM/SADAR/C/24-25/28.12 (Tender ID: 1070427).
However, it is known from the ground and local sources that no visible work of renovation or excavation has been done in the designated canal. Even the work of renovating the canal dam and paisa has been left unwritten.
A resident of the locals said on condition of anonymity, “Not even a shovel of soil was cut in the canal. The monsoon water is not drained, but we have come to know that all the money has been raised for this work.”
Allegations have been made that Iqbal Hossain, the concerned engineer of LGED, approved the bill to the contractor Ammar Traders by showing favors on the ground by showing favors on the ground.
Engineer Iqbal Hossain was contacted several times to find out about this, but he did not get it.
On the other hand, an official of the executive engineer of LGED Lakshmipur said that if such an indefinite complaint is received, legal and administrative measures will be taken after investigating the incident.
