A teenager named Mazaharul Munna Apu (17) was suffering from dengue fever in Khulna. He was working as an ambulance assistant (helper) of Paikgacha Upazila Health Complex.
On Saturday (September 19) around 8:30 am, he died under treatment at a private hospital in Khulna, Health Ketter Clinic.
The deceased is the son of Masum Billah Sardar and Beli Begum, a resident of Shanta village in Gaikhali Unit of Apu Upazila, but since childhood he lived in Nana Baari of Paikgacha village.
According to family and hospital sources, when Apu developed a high fever a few days ago, he was diagnosed with dengue after examination. First he was admitted to Paikgacha Upazila Health Complex.
Later, this young man was 17 years old when he was undergoing treatment in a private clinic in Khulna.
Apur's sudden death has brought deep grief among family, colleagues and locals. Asarbad Village Paikgacha Uttarpaja Shahi Jame Masjid held his funeral on Saturday. Later, UP member Azizul Islam Lovelu said that he will be buried in the village government cemetery.
Dengue fears in one death
The concern among locals has increased due to the death of Paikgacha dengue, which has been worsened by locals. Earlier on September 5, Assistant Professor of Fasitar Rahman Women's College, Tapas Kumar Mandal, died of dengue.
There is panic and anxiety in the area of multiple deaths in dengue in a short period of time. Local residents have demanded a quick anti-mosquito eradication campaign to prevent dengue, alleviate waterlogging and increase public awareness.
According to them, to prevent dengue, local public representatives, educational institutions and common people should come together in addition to the administration and the surrounding area. They are calling on everyone to be more aware of keeping the environment clean and that water does not accumulate anywhere.
