A young man named Sohail Rana (28) was arrested by the police in the case of the murder of housewife Julekha Begum (55) and her college college Tanha Akhtar Meem (19) in Ramganj of Lakshmipur.
He was detained for preliminary interrogation on Friday (October 10) night, and earlier the police had filed a police case against the unknown accused, Mizanur Rahman, who was arrested on Saturday afternoon, and was sent to the court on 7-day remand.
The arrested Sohel Rana is the son of Khamar Bahir Mozammel Hossain Bahar of North Chandipur village of Ramganj upazila, police said he is the cousin of the deceased Tanha Akhtar Meem.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rathapur Circle) Hossain Md Rahan Kazemi said, “The incident is very brutal. We are looking at all aspects of the incident. Initially, Sohail Rana has been detained for questioning. If progress is made in the investigation, details will be given if there is progress.”
According to local sources and the members of the deceased family, the miscreants killed Julekha Begum and her Meme in her own village in North Chandipur village after Thursday (October 9) evening, after the evening, the killers looted gold ornaments and valuables from the house.
At night, the male members of the family returned to the house and entered the house and saw their throats cut on the floor, and later the police recovered the body at the spot and sent it to the Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for the mortise. After the funeral on Friday afternoon, they were buried in the family cemetery after the evening funeral.
