In Ramganj of Lakshmipur, a laborer named Md. Tajul Islam (60) was beaten to death in a day due to a land dispute.
The incident was reported to be the son of deceased Ah Khalek of Hirapur Saj Bair of the deceased Tajul Islam Bhatra Unityan on March 23 (Monday) at 10 am in Bholakot Unit of Upazila. Ramganj police station has recovered the body at the scene and sent it to the district hospital morgue for investigation.
According to the deceased's son Mahmudul Islam and local sources, the upazila's Bhatra Hirapur Saj Bair Tajul Islam is the one who went to the neighboring Bholakot Torab Miji Bais to get the news of his father-in-law's possession of the property.
He died on the spot and later his relatives were taken to Ramganj Government Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Ramganj Thana OC Investigation Md. Abdul Jalil said that the body was recovered and sent to the district hospital morgue and the relatives of the deceased Tajul Islam are being prepared for the case.
