The Cabinet has given policy approval of the Chief of Defense Forces (Application, Retirement, Pay and Allowance) Act, 2016. The President can hold office for a maximum of four years after the appointment of the Chief of Army Staff.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting at the Secretariat on Monday (December 12) and gave this approval.
The Cabinet has approved the President's speech in the first session of the 10th National Parliament in 2017.
After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam gave this information to reporters.
The Cabinet also grants policy approval of the ‘Bangladesh Rice Research Institute Act, 2016’, ‘Seed Act, 2016’; ‘Bangladesh Film and Television Institute (Amendment) Act, 2016’.
Bangladesh will give approval for re-signing the MoU regarding the establishment and operation of border-huts on the border of India.
The Cabinet has proposed condolences over the death of India's Tamil Nadu state chief minister Jatlalita Jataram and Bangladesh Prime Minister's Special Assistant Mahbubul Haque Shakeel.
