The Election Commission (EC) has announced the postponement of the election of 371 Union Parishads in 19 districts of the country in the first phase of the coronavirus infection and the election of 11 municipalities in the sixth phase.
EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath gave this information to reporters after the meeting of the commission at the Election Building on Thursday (April 1).
He said that the election has been postponed on April 11. The election of the 11th municipality of the 6th phase, the by-election of the female vice chairman of the Fenchuganj Upazila Parishad and the 11th Ward of the Sunamganj district council will be postponed until the next election.‘
On March 3, the EC announced the schedule of elections in 11 municipalities and 371 Union Parishads, while also being convicted of criminal offenses, the schedule of Laxmipur-2 seat of Shahid Islam Papul, who lost his position, was also announced.
