Sreepur in Gazipur BNP leader Siddiqur Rahman (55) has tragically died after being crushed by the waste-carrying lari of local Narish Poultry and Hatchery Ltd.
The accident took place at the railway gate of Sreepur town around 12 noon today, Saturday.
The local crowd arrested the killer Ladi and the driver Yusuf and handed him over to the police.
It is known that the deceased Siddiqur Rahman is the son of deceased Hachen Ali of Ward No. 1 of Sreepur Municipality, he was the former campaign secretary of Sreepur Municipal BNP.
Witnesses said Siddique was passing by the road at the rail gate, while the ladi carrying the waste of the Narish Poultry and Hatchery hit him from behind when he fell on the road, and he died on the spot when the wheels of the lari were crushed and he was killed on the spot. Local people arrested the lodge driver Yusuf and handed him over to the police.
The deceased's elder brother, Mustafa, said that Siddique came from his house in the morning and was walking across the road through the railway gate, when Ladi pushed him from behind and fell to the ground. The rear wheel of the lorry was crushed and his ribs were crushed.
Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahinur Alam said that the body of the deceased has been recovered from the spot. The driver of the accident has been arrested and further action will be taken based on the complaints of the relatives.
