Abu Taher, Ramganj Representative:
There have been many complaints against the Ramganj Palli Vidyut Zonal Office in Laxmipur, which has been accused of refusing for new electricity connections and many customers have been accused of not getting connections despite visiting the office for months, while secret negotiations have also been reported to allow rapid connection and load increase in some individuals and organizations through secret agreements.
The victims complain that the application of ordinary customers is being kept on the pending due to various reasons including the shortage of electricity cables, the lack of transformers, the lack of new meters, online application errors, land quarantine complications. However, the owners of illegal brick kilns and multi-storied buildings are increasing the connection and load in a short period of time.
Saddam Hossain, son of Nuru Mita of Asharkota village, applied online for a new connection on May 4, 2025, but his father's name is not yet connected in the land. Similarly, many applicants including municipal employees Pintu, Maksudur Rahman of Aurishpur village, Mostak Ahmed of Agunkhil village, Mahabubul Rahman of Ratanpur village and Paschim Abhirampur Shah Jame Masjid Committee have not got meter for a long time.
The contractor has also complained that the application for 12 connections of the 12 connections of the Public Health Engineering Department's Clean Water Supply Project has also been pending for a long time. The municipality's Apollo Hospital, Ratanpur village Belat Master and Sonapur Karnaphuli City Complex authorities also complained of not connecting the transformer.
The complaint has been filed, through a secret agreement, the area adjacent to the government primary school, the area adjacent to the sub-registry office and the three sides of the Sonapur intersection have been installed in three hours, but the connection has not started even in two months. The concerned claim that the contract money has not been paid.
Meanwhile, there have been allegations that the brick kilns have been connected and loaded even if they do not have a license, but there have been massive loads in Madina Bricks Field, Madina-2 Bricks Field and Meghna Bricks Field, locals said.
The local electrician company complained that according to the rules, the general customers are not getting the service. If you pay money, all the work will be done quickly.
A few people who did not want to be named, the registered electrician complained that the Ramganj Rural Electricity Office and the Inspector Shimul did not approve at least 700 rupees per meter. If there is no agreement with the DGM in the work, they also complained that they should keep the application on the pretext of a transformer, her and meter crisis.
Shamsul Islam Pattori, head teacher of West Angarpada Government Primary School, said that even after applying and depositing money for the installation of the transformer of the mosque, there are unreasonable conditions, which cannot be fulfilled.
However, denimizing the allegations, Ramganj Zonal Office andiring inspector Shimul Bauta said, "No one will give me money. If customers apply online, they are getting serial meter".
Shaheen Reza Faraji, DGM of Ramganj Zonal Office, said that 6 out of 12 applications of the Public Health Engineer have been approved. So far, no allocation has come after the new government has taken the duti, customers are not getting the connection.
