Although there is a provision for providing free medical services in the country's government hospitals, there is no such provision in Ramganj Upazila Health Complex of Lakshmipur.
According to the investigation, Fatema Begum of Kethuri village of the upazila came to the maternity department in October to take service at 1800 taka, Srirampur Sharmin Akhter of the village, Jannat Begum of East Darbeshpur village, 1600 taka, said Nazmun Nahar of Asharkota village, Karpasar Bilkish Begum also complained.
On November 10 (Sunday) Sarzamin inspection in the government complex, Nusrat Begum's relative of Chandipur, who is undergoing treatment in the maternity department, has given 500 taka. Kajal Rani Pal, who is present in the maternity department, said that she will not be given any money from the maternity patients who come to Ramganj Upazila Health Complex to get services.
According to hospital sources, 83 people received normal delivery services in the maternity department in the month of October, 17 people received operation service, as such, huge amount of money is being received from the service users in the maternity department every month, which is a clear violation of the government's provisions.
In the light of such complaints, Ramganj Health Complex Chief Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Antor Hossain said that action will be taken subject to investigation in view of the complaint.
