US President Donald Trump has proposed to introduce a five milli-dollar ‘gold card’ instead of an EB-5 visa for foreign investors. US citizenship can also be purchased, which is the US President on Tuesday (Feb. 25).
Trump told reporters that EB-5 visas are issued by investing in a large sum of money in the United States. A chance to become a permanent resident, which will be replaced by a ‘Gold Card’ will be introduced in place of which US citizenship can be purchased for $500,000.
He said, ‘This new gold card will open the way for green card along with the benefits of green card, he said, ’rich people can buy this card and come to our country."
It has been announced that the details of the new program will be announced within the next two weeks.
If the Russian billionaires (Oligarch) will be considered eligible for this card, reporters want to know ‘Perhaps yes. I know a few Russian Oligarchs who are very good people,’ Trump said.’
Meanwhile, according to the USCIS website, the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program was approved by the Congress in 1990. The program was launched in the United States through foreign investment to create employment and economic development.
On the other hand, the commerce minister of the new government, Howard Lutnik, called the EB-5 program meaningless, fictitious and deceptive on Tuesday, saying, ‘The President wants to cancel this defective project and launch the gold card.’
He also said that it was a way to get green cards at a low price.
