Habiganj The Boro paddy harvesting festival is being held in Bananichang, on Tuesday, April 12 at 1 pm on the occasion of the harvest festival of paddy harvesting at Sunaru in Boro Haor.
Upazila Executive Officer Padmasan Singh presided over the meeting held by Upazila Administration and Agriculture Extension Directorate.
Habiganj District Commissioner Ishrat Jahan cut the paddy harvesting festival and sample as the chief guest.
Banitachong Upazila Parishad Chairman Abul Kashem Chowdhury, Habiganj District Agriculture Extension Training Officer Md. Ashek Parvez, Vice Chairman Hasina Akhtar, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Enamul Haque, UP Chairman Abdul Ahad and J.Kumar Das, President Russell Chowdhury, General Secretary Rashed Chowdhury and others were present.
According to Baniachong Upazila Agriculture Office, Boro paddy fields are protected so far in Baniachong.
Meanwhile, paddy harvesting workers from outside districts have started coming, out of which 2,000 have reached 6,000 workers.
40 Reaper machines have been prepared in this Combine Harvest 20. In the current Boro season, the total cultivated land is 33 thousand 785 hectares. Among them, the amount of cultivated land in deep haor (low land) is 17 thousand 980 hectares.
In the meantime, 1200 hectares of Boro paddy in the upazila have been harvested, in the meantime, the boro land of the deep Haor is 1 thousand hectares.
This year the potential production target has been set at 1 lakh 70 thousand 266 million tons.
In this regard, the agriculture department is urging the farmers to cut ripe paddy round the clock.
Habiganj District Commissioner Ishrat Jahan said that the local administration is taking care of the dams of our Haor at the time of the paddy harvesting festival and sample harvesting ceremony.
