Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Sajjad Ali has said that the law and order forces have prepared to deal with any kind of program including the strike of the banned student organization Chhatra League.
He said this in response to a question from reporters after the inspection regarding the security plan adopted by the DMP around the Amar Ekushe Book Fair on Friday (January 31).
The DMP Commissioner said that if anyone tries to sabotage various programs including the hartal, it will be suppressed with a strict hand, and many workers of the banned Chhatra League have already been arrested. If any program is taken, we will definitely take action, which is being kept under the watchful eye of the accused who is out on bail from this district.
The violence has occurred during the last government's tenure in the book fair, and several accused were arrested and are now in jail, and the DMP Commissioner said, "We are keeping a close eye on those suspects."
He said the fair has been set up with a police control room and the fair will be monitored and around it. The security system will be conducted in the entrance of the fair, along with the security system, and there will be round-the-clock security measures inside and outside the fair.
The DMP Commissioner also said that Bangla Academy has been asked to not have any provocative book in this book fair.
As a result of which they are doing the movement in Dhaka. This is causing massive traffic jam in the city. Now the book fair is starting again in this situation, the DMP Commissioner said, "The traffic situation in Dhaka city is very fragile. People are suffering. I am also suffering. Because I see the traffic system of this body. When I see people stuck on the road for hours, I will tell them that you don't block the road with small demands.
