Hasnat Abdullah, the organizer of the southern part of the Jatiya Nagrik Party, claimed that efforts are underway to rehabilitate the ousted Awami League in Bangladesh with former minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury, former speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury and former mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas in front of him.
He described the matter as “refined Awami League” as “a new conspiracy”.
Since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, there has been a demand to ban the party from the politics of Bangladesh, and various parties, including the student leaders who participated in the movement, and leaders of several other political parties have been warning about their rehabilitation.
Awami League's affiliated organization Chhatra League was also banned in October in the face of the pressure of the agitating students.
However, for the past few days, the leader of Jatiya Nagrik Party, Hasnat Abdullah, has been renewed on the issue of banning Awami League, he has been giving one status after another on his verified Facebook page on the issue of ban and refund, but he has not described any context of this demand in any status.
For example, he wrote on March 9, “Don’t try to return 2013 in 2025.“ Beware! ” The next status came on March 12.
On that day, he wrote briefly that “planning to bring back the Awami League is going on in this election. ‘Refined’ will appear soon with a new ‘tablet’ called Awami League.”
The status of March 15 was, “There is a conspiracy to bring back the Awami League through the same path that the Awami League has fled,” and “Awami League's chapter is cloused.”
After a few days of silence, on Thursday, March 20th, he addressed Professor Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh, and wrote, “Dr. Yunus, the Awami League was banned on August 5. It is not use to try to open the Awami League chapter in North Para and India's prescriptions.”
It should be noted here that Uttar Para usually refers to Dhaka Cantonment in Bangladesh.
Now, nowhere in those statuses is he explaining the reason for his same genre of status.
Finally he addressed the chief adviser and gave another long status within an hour of posting the post and he clarified the reason for his statement.
Meanwhile, BBC Bangla has tried to get the army's response to Hasnat Abdullah's demand. When contacted by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), they said that they have no say in the status of Hasnat Abdullah.
