From the continued flooding of Meghna, the local residents have formed a human chain to protect Kamalnagar upazila of Laxmipur from the river bank on Wednesday (April 24) morning.
The speakers in the human chain said that if the dam work is not started immediately, the Kamalnagar upazila will disappear from the map of Bangladesh in a few years, so the Mannita Prime Minister sought the intervention of the Prime Minister to protect three lakh people in the city.
SMT spoke among others, demanding the protection of the upazila from the erosion of the Meghna river, Advocate Abdus Sattar Palloan of Kamalnagar-Ramgati Bachao Manch, former chairman of Kamalnagar Upazila Parishad Saitad Md. Shamchul Alam, Laxmipur District Aomi League Agricultural Affairs Secretary Abdul Matlab, Basad leader Ibrahim Khalil and many others.

Locals also said that due to such information, the current project has created fear among the locals. Therefore, the locals have organized this human chain as part of their efforts to reach the head of the government.
