Kamalnagar: A fisherman named Imran Hossain (22) died from an engine-powered boat in the Meghna river of Kamalnagar upazila of Laxmipur.
The accident took place in the Batirghat area of Meghna River south of Motirhat on Sunday (December 15) night. Imran Kamalnagar Upazila is the son of Md. Yusuf of Madhyachar Martin village.
Hazirhat Investigation Center in charge. Alamgir Hossain said that four fishermen were returning to the ghat after catching fish at night. On the way, they reached the Batirghat area and the engine-powered boat of the fishermen was hit by a coconut tree in the river, which was a hard hit by two fishermen. One of them was able to swim to the shore but Imran died drowning, after the local fishermen recovered his body, said Alamgir, in-charge of the investigation center.
