The leaders of the alliance have requested the Election Commission to announce the schedule of the 11th National Assembly elections after knowing the outcome of the dialogue of the National Oikya Front with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on November 7.
JSD President ASM Abdur Rob informed the journalists about this request to the journalists after the meeting with the commissioners including the CEC at the election building in Agargaon on Monday evening.
He said that the election has been scheduled till January 28. If the schedule is not given on November 8, he said Mahabharata will not be impure—we have tried to convince the EC.
Abdur Rab also said that we have also asked not to use EVMs in national elections but they could not give any decision.
Earlier, Oikya Front leaders held a meeting at the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda's office at the Agargaon election building from 4:15 PM to 4:00 PM.
In the meeting led by JSD President ASM Abdur Rob, Gateshwar Chandra Rath, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Dr. 10 members including Zafrullah Chowdhury, Barkatullah Bulu were present.
On the other hand, CEC KM Nurul Huda along with four Election Commissioners and EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed were present.
