Helaluddin Ahmad, Secretary of the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat, said that the schedule of the National Assembly elections will be announced in the first week of November.
He said this to reporters after a meeting with a 7-member delegation of the European Union (EU) with the EC at the Agargaon election building on Thursday.
In the context of the meeting, the EC Secretary said, European Union wants to see the free and participatory elections of Bangladesh.
Earlier, the Election Commissioners sat in a meeting with a delegation of 7 members of the EU at the office of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda at around 11:00 on Thursday.
Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder, Md. Rafiqul Islam, Kavita Khanam, Brigadier General (Retd.) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury, EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed were present.
The delegation led by Renji Terinck, Ambassador of the European Union, was the ambassador and representative of Britain, Germany, Spain, Sweden, France, Denmark, Netherlands.
