12 people have died due to lightning across the country, with the loss of life from morning till afternoon on Sunday (April 26, with at least two others who were injured in the incident.
Among them, five people died in Gaibandha, two in Sirajganj, two in Jamalpur, one in Bagguja, one from Natore and one in Panchag.
Sirajganj
A farmer and a young man died in two separate lightning incidents in Sirajganj's Tsash and Ratganj upazilas. The incident took place on Sunday (April 26) afternoon.
Among them, a farmer named Abdul Hamid (50) died in lightning at Betrashin village of Madhainagar Uniton of Tasash Upazila at around 4 pm, and the deceased Abdul Hamid is the son of deceased Gafur Ali of that village.
Tashash police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mo Habibur Rahman said, "I have received news of the death of the farmer due to lightning, and the poison is being investigated."
According to local sources, Hasan was chanting paddy cut in his land with his family members in the afternoon.
Ragganj Thana-Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ahsanuzzaman said, "The incident is very sad. The poison of the death of a young man has been confirmed by lightning and legal action is being taken in this poison.

A young man named Suman (35) died in lightning to fetch goats from the land in Boguar Gabtali.
The incident took place in the village of Sonaratu Uni of the upazila on Sunday afternoon, where the deceased Suman Muchikhali village was killed. Son of Abdul Karim.
According to local sources, Suman went to bring his goat in a land near the same place, which was struck by lightning after a while.
Gabtali Police Inspector (Investigation) Md. Abu Musa confirmed the truth of the incident and said, SI Md. A police team led by Mahbub visited the spot, where the death (UD) case was being filed.

A laborer named Samrat Hossain (26) died due to lightning in the harvest of paddy in Singat Chalanbil of Natore.
The accident took place in Thanga Pakuri village of the upazila on Sunday afternoon, where the deceased Samrat Hossain is the son of Saja Fakir of Nagardala village of Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj.
According to local sources, Samrat Hossain, including A few workers were harvesting paddy in the field of Thanga Pakurita village. When it started raining, they took shelter in a house next door. Other workers quickly rescued him and went to Natore Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty at the emergency department declared him dead.
Sinza police station officer-in-charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the emperor died due to lightning when he came to harvest paddy from Sirajganj. The body of the deceased has been kept at Natore Sadar Hospital and the body will be handed over to the family after the legal process.
