A local peasant leader has been accused of forcing him to buy goods from his shop in a building under construction in Lakshmipur, while also beating the manager of Balu Kenyat Bhavan from other places.
The incident took place on Monday (April 20) morning at Happy Road area of No. 6 of the municipality.
According to the complaint, on August 5, 2024, after the Awami League Bida, the city's Rehan Uddin Bhuiyan Road Happy Cinema Hall, the area under construction, was forced to buy various materials including Projannita Rod, Cement from the local Krishak Dal leader Mohsin.
Emdad Hossain Pitas, the manager of the building, said that Mohsin said the price of Tk 28,000 when the sand is recently in place. Later, when 24 thousand taka sand was bought from another jatga, he got angry and attacked him at the spot on Monday morning.
He said, “He came and said, ”This is my site, why would another jaggery sand come here? After that, they beat me up. We and the workers are now in a panic."
The workers at the scene said that Mohsin came and attacked the manager after a previous dispute, which created fear among them.
The incident has also caused concern among the locals, they said, it is normal to buy from where the goods can be found at a low price in the market, it is not acceptable to force someone to buy goods from a specific shop.
However, the accused Mohsin denied the allegations and said that he had gone there for the money he owed, and there was no incident of beating.
The police have not yet filed any complaint in this incident. The victims claim that if they complain, they may face more problems - they are silent.
