On the last day of the campaign ahead of the upazila parishad elections, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-12) arrested 11 people including Chelman Shahinuzzaman Shaheen of Sujanagar Upazila of Pabna, which was used for extra money distribution.
Members of RAB-12 Pabna camp arrested them from Char Bhavanipur constituency of Sujanagar around 12 o'clock on Monday (May 6th May).
RAB company commander Major Md. Ehteshamul Haque Khan told the media that on the occasion of the first phase of Sujanagar upazila elections on May 8, our regular patrol team Char Bhavanipur of Sujanagar. At that time, upazila chairman candidate Shahinuzzaman Shaheen was arrested with two bags full of Tk 22 lakh 82 thousand 700 and 10 associates.
Initial interrogation revealed that the money was kept for distribution to influence the voters.We have informed the returning officer and he will come and take action.
Pabna District Election Officer and Returning Officer Mahbubur Rahman, who is responsible for the election, told the media that we have come to know the poison. Actions will be taken as per the rules.
Shahinuzzaman Shaheen is the current chairman of Sujanagar Upazila Parishad, who is the current chairman of Sujanagar Upazila Parishad. He is also serving as the general secretary of the upazila Awami League. The names and identity of the remaining 10 people have not been known immediately. But among them, Sujanagar Municipality has 4th and 8th Councilor of 4th and 8th.
