Pradeep Kumar Rat, Special Representative: The fisheries department and the Coast Guard seized 50 maunds of jatka from the Chandar canal (old bare) area of Char Banshi Uni of Rashtpur upazila of Laxmipur district. They conducted a raid on Friday morning (23 February) and they left the boat on the 19th February morning.
District Fisheries Officer Aminul Islam told reporters in the afternoon that 50 maunds of Jatka hilsa was seized from Meghna river in Rashpur's Puran Bezi area in the joint operation of the Fisheries Department and Coast Guard.
The fishes were brought to the ghat by 2 boats. Later, on the instructions of Ragpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Najma bint Amin, the fish were distributed free of charge among 19 orphanages and the poor and needy.
