Netrakona Representative:
The local administration has seized about 17 and a half tons (354 sacks) of rice sold illegally from the food warehouse of Khalitajuri upazila of Netrakona.
On Friday (April 14) around 11:15 p.m., the rice was seized at Rasulpur Ghat in the upazila, while Lutfur Mita, son of Fajr Uddin of Chalishar area of Netrakona Sadar, was arrested.
According to local administration and local sources, 17 tons 554 kg of government rice was taken out from Khalijari upazila food warehouse in the district on Friday night and taken at the Ghat of Rasulpur Dhanu river in the upazila. If the poison is suspected by the locals, the administration has been informed about the rice and the administration has seized the rice.
Upazila Krishnapur Union UP member Jahangir Alam, Kabir Hossain, Namita Rani, Nagar Unity's female member, Shiuli Moumik of Krishnapur Union, Shamim Mita Khabikha were said to have picked rice and sold rice as the president of the project.
On receiving the information, Khalijari Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Samin Sarrota went to Rasulpur Ghat and seized the rice, said that the rice in the government warehouse was seized due to the lack of permission to buy and sell rice and a businessman was being detained and interrogated at the same time.
In this Bholi, Khazuri Upazila Food Officer Rubidur Rana said, ‘The rice is TR-Khabikkha rice. They were taken by the upazila chairman. These were taken out on Friday afternoon. The rice was released through the scheduled DO. We do not know what to do.’
