Charghat Upazila of Rajshahi has sentenced two hunters of 600 birds to hunt and kill birds one year in prison. Charghat Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Sohrab Hossain has sentenced him to one year imprisonment. The mobile court gave this sentence.
Earlier, two bird hunters were arrested from there for killing birds, which were later sent to prison by a mobile court sentenced to one year.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sohrab Hossain said that based on secret information, a team of Charghat police station conducted a raid on the Bil area of Kankamari Pati around 6 am on Wednesday.
The arrested are Abu Bakar Siddique (55) and Feroz Hossain (32) of Madanhat Gham in Naldanga upazila of Natore district and they hunted these birds in the nets and slaughtered them in the nets and later sold them in various hotels.
UNO said that the arrested persons have been sentenced to one year imprisonment under the Wildlife (Conservation and Security) Act-2012. They have been fined 1000 rupees. The hunters have been sent to jail by the police. And the birds have been sent to jail by the police.
