The court sentenced two drug dealers to seven years in prison with 16 geji ganja arrested in Lakshmipur.
At the same time, they have been sentenced to fine 10,000 taka and imprisoned another year in non-payment.
Laxmipur District and Datra Judge Court Judge Md. Rahibul Islam gave this Raat.Lakshipur Judge Court Public Counsel (PP) Jasim Uddin confirmed the poison.
Jasim Uddin said, ‘The charges against the accused have been proved in the court. The court sentenced them to seven years in prison. The accused were not present in the court. They were on bail and kept on bail.’
Convicted Kamrul Hasan is the son of Marfat Ulya of Rajibpur area of Laxmipur town and Main Uddin is the son of Muktar Hossain of Ramchandrapur village of Shasidal Unit of Brahmanpasa upazila of Comilla.
According to the sources of the statement, on the night of October 9, 2021, Kamrul and Main were staying in Kalibazar Sagar in Matlabpur village of Parvatinagar Union of Sadar Upazila. Based on secret information, the district police team arrested them from the spot and 8 kg of ganja was recovered from them.
Later, the police recovered 8 kg of ganja from Bhasa in Dakshin Majupur area of Laxmipur town of Maina, which was filed by Gotenda Police SI Jahangir Alam filed a case in Sadar Model Police Station.
On November 15 of the same year, the investigating officer of the case and Sub-Inspector (SI) of the District Intelligence Police Maqbul Hossain filed a charge sheet against Kamrul and Main in the court and the court sentenced them to prison after a long hearing and testimony of the witnesses.
