Two people, including a teenager, were killed in two haoras in Khalijari upazila of Haoranchal in Netrakona.
On Wednesday afternoon, farmers Zakarul Mita (30) and Chakuta were struck by lightning after cutting paddy in Satgaon Haor of Mendipur Union of the upazila. A teenager named Mamun Mita (13) was killed in Ranichapur village of Uniton.
Khalijari police station OC Mojibur Rahman confirmed this information and said that farmer Zakarul Atpa is the son of Akash Mita of Ikrahati village of Teligati Unyun Upazila. He came to harvest paddy at Satgaon father-in-law of Khalitajuri upazila.
Later in the evening, he died in Haori due to lightning. He also died in Haori. A cow died and was also injured in a lightning strike near Masud Mita's son Mamun Bair of Ranichapur village of the same upazila.
When the family members went to the upazila health complex, he died at night. The OC confirmed this information at around eight o'clock on Wednesday night and the relatives said that the body was being taken away.
