A local robber named Ershad entered the house of Mizan Bayati, chairman of Dheukhali union of Sadarpur upazila of Faridpur, hacked his wife and child and injured him and the chairman's child died on the way to the hospital.
According to local and police sources, Chairman Mizan Bayati said that His wife Diljahan Ratna (35) was sleeping at home with his 10-year-old child Rafsan, Ershad, son of Sanu Molla of the same village, entered the house and started beating the chairman's wife and son.
Neighbors rescued the two and took them to Sadarpur Hospital where the doctor on duty declared Rafsan dead, while Ratna was admitted to Faridpur Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
According to local residents, Ershad used to torture his wife, and the chairman held an arbitration several times after Eid. Ershad broke up with his wife a few days ago. Ershad is angry with the chairman for not going to his side, locals believe that the attack may be due to this.
Faridpur Additional Superintendent of Police, Jamal Pasha, confirmed the incident, said that Mizan Bayati's wife is in critical condition and is being treated at the hospital, police are investigating the matter and details will be given later.
Meanwhile, when the news of the death of the chairman's child spread in the village, the supporters of the chairman attacked and vandalized the house of the attacker Ershad.
