District Representative: His outstanding contribution in the liberation war and the first protest against the assassination of Bangabandhu on August 15, former additional secretary Historian Siraj Uddin Ahmed dedicated the 2022 freedom medal to the people of Barguna.
On the occasion of Independence Day on March 26, Barguna District Administration presented this dedication during his speech at the reception ceremony organized by Barguna Shilpa Kala Academy Milnattan.
Siraj Uddin Ahmed, the organizer of the liberation war, said in his speech that the brave sons of Barguna participated in this medal in the war of independence. I accepted their medal and dedicated it to Barguna today.
Barguna District Commissioner Habibur Rahman presided over the reception of freedom fighters and martyr families on the occasion of Independence Day.
The special guest was the general secretary of Barguna District Aomi League and the first protester against the killing of Bangabandhu, the then Chhatra League president Alhaj Jahangir Kabir. Barguna District Freedom Fighter Former Commander Alhaj A. Rashid, former Deputy Commander Ah Motaleb Mridha.
In the speech of the chief guest, Advocate Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu said that the then Barguna Mahakumar Triti Magistrate was a brave man.
He used to organize the freedom fighters of Barguna and lead the liberation war by sitting in his government bus building, ignoring the bloody eyes of Pakistan Melateri, but he was the first to protest after Bangabandhu's death.
He was asked to work in bonds and apologise but he did not do that, rather we held a procession meeting protesting the killing of Bangabandhu and he sent us to jail and inquired about us in jail.
