The court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain will announce the case of 5 people including the expelled leader Helena Jahangir, who was expelled from the Awami League, the fraudulent, extortion case committed by Pallabi Thana Datta.
The other four accused in the case are Jhatra TV General Manager Hajera, Chief News Editor Kamruzzaman Arif, Coordinator Sanaullah Noori and Staff Reporter Mahfuz Shahrir.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Tofazzal Hossain fixed this day after the arguments of the state and the accused last Tuesday (March 14).
During the arguments, the lawyer told the court on behalf of the rest of the accused including Helena Jahangir that it has failed to prove the charges brought against her clients. The state party and its clients have applied for acquittal.
The state has told the court that they have been able to prove the charges against the accused. And the accused has sought maximum punishment for the accused in the case, and the court recorded the statements of 13 witnesses of the state, including the plaintiff in the case, and the court filed a complaint against 4 people including Helena Jahangir in the case on April 18.
It is to be noted that on the night of August 2, 2021, journalist Abdur Rahman Tuhin, a journalist, filed a fraud case in the plaintiff. The case was filed by the chairman of Jatra TV, Helena Jahangir, general manager Hajera, chief news editor Kamruzzaman Arif, coordinator Sanaullah Noori, staff reporter Mahfuz Shahrir and other unknown 10-12 people were accused.
The plaintiff in the case complained that helena took 54,000 taka from Abdur Rahman Tuhin from Bhola district for appointment as a local correspondent of Jayayatra TV. As a reporter, Rahman worked for several months but did not get any salary from him. On the other hand, after the investigation, the investigation officer of the case against five people including Helana Jahangir filed the complaint sheet of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Inspector Shahinur's Islam filed a complaint in 2022.
