The court sentenced former officer-in-charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Das and in-charge Litaqat Ali to death in the murder case of retired army Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan.
Judge Mohammad Ismail of Cox's Bazar District and Datra Judge Court announced this at 4:12 pm on Monday.
Baharcha Police Investigation Center dismissed Sub-Inspector Nanddulal Rakshit, OC Pradeep's bodyguard was dismissed by constable Rubel Sharma and 6 people were sentenced to 6 people and 7 people including three members of APBN were acquitted.
After a long hearing, testimony, interrogation and arguments of the lawyers, the court fixed the date of the last 12 January.
It should be noted that on the night of July 31, 2020, on the way back to the resort, Sinha was shot dead by the police at the checkpoint of the Teknaf Marine Drive Sakhamlapur APBN Police. The incident created a sensation across the country.
Five days after the murder, on August 5, Sinha's sister Sharmin Shahrir Ferdous filed a murder case in the court of Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah.
The accused was made by the then OC of Teknaf police station Pradeep Kumar Das, Inspector Litakat Ali of Baharcha Investigation Center, Sub-Inspector Nanddulal Rakshit and 9 members of the police.
