Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called on the international community to multiply efforts to resolve the Rohingya crisis in a multi-faceted event, she called on an event held at the United Nations headquarters.
According to the news agency Bass, highlighting four proposals to the global community to solve the Rohingya crisis, he said, "Our collective efforts to ensure the permanent solution to this (Rohingya) problem from Mitanmar are multiplied, among all the options, voluntary repatriation is the most effective."
On the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday (September 21), Bangladesh, Canada, Gambia, Malteshita, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States took to the Rohingya crisis at the United Nations headquarters, ‘Did they forget us?’ A high-level event was organized by Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.
Sheikh Hasina said in her first and second proposal, I call on the world community to solve the poison and continue our humanitarian efforts to support this miserable and helpless people and keep this poison at the top of their agenda.
In the third proposal, he said, follow the ongoing and conventional legal and multilateral process to ensure the accountability of these racial minorities, turning into nits and accountability of the perpetrators of the atrocities.
The Prime Minister said that they have gathered here today to remember the tragic incident of Rohingyas from Mitanmar for the last six years to remind the world of the tragic woes of the Rohingya minority.
He said, "After the brutal killing of Rohingyas and family members, about 1 million people flocked to Bangladesh within a few months. Since then we have been providing their shelter and their basic and human services on our soil. I thank all our partners and friends for their humanitarian support as well as their humanitarian support."
Noting that the issue has now reached a stagnant stage, he further said that not even a single displaced Rohingya has been able to return to their Bai in Mitanmar in the last six years. Not only are their long presence in Bangladesh pushing them further into despair, he said, it is also making the situation in Cox's Bazar uncertain.
The Prime Minister also commented that the shelter donor community has become victims of their generosity. Global attention to the demand of the Rohingya is rapidly declining. Disclosed, Sheikh Hasina said that it is the lack of humanitarian support plan.
He said, the whole world is going through unrest and the number of people displaced due to conflict, hydration and many other reasons is getting a record height, they are aware of the poison.
The Prime Minister said that the world cannot forget the Rohingyas, because their emigration in 2017 was not an isolated incident and they have been victims of Nipijan and Bitan in Mitnammar for several decades.
He said that everyone has the right to come forward in a strong remedy against their torture, and humanitarian support is important for their sustenance, but it is not everything.
He added that we need to make sure that they can return to their respective regions in Mitanmar and live a certain life with dignity and for this we have to solve the problem at the root of the problem, which is in their own country. Protection and provision of benefits are needed, so that they do not escape from the house.
The Prime Minister said there are many countries present here, which have been sheltering a large number of Rohingyas for decades. He believes that Maleshita and Saudi Arabia will agree with Bangladesh.
He said Bangladesh is a small country with a high population density and is one of the most affected countries in global warming and sea level rise and it is already a growing number of water-induced internally displaced people, and the long presence of Rohingya has had a serious social, economic and security impact for our people.
He also said that due to the destruction of 6,800 acres of protected forests due to this shelter camp, which is currently known as the world's largest refugee camp, the biodiversity of Cox's Bazar has been seriously damaged.
Sheikh Hasina said, they should pay attention to the quick implementation of the bilateral agreement that we signed with Mitanmar in November 2017.
“We are working with Maanmar to start the repatriation of the verified Rohingyas in small batches, to ensure that the process is transparent and voluntary, we have been discussed several times between the Rohingya and the authorities of the Meanmar.
The Prime Minister said, according to him, the experience of the first batch of returnees will be important to guide Bangladesh in the future and fill the gaps in the process.
He said, if the pilot repatriation project is successfully implemented, hope will be kept alive in the future. I hope that the international community will come forward to help the Rohingya returnees to reunite in Rakhine.
The Prime Minister said that the presence of humanitarian and advanced organizations in Rakhine will serve as an important trust-building system.
He said that the regional countries, especially Asitan members, can take on a leadership role in their close and historical relationship with the MyNarma. Based on the comprehensive estimation of the AHA Center, small community-based projects can be undertaken by involving returning Rohingyas.
The Prime Minister said that the main causes of the Rohingya crisis are already in place to effectively address the ongoing international attention.
He said that the implementation of the proposal of the Security Council and the General Assembly in the poison of Meanmar is important in this regard.
It is equally important to keep an eye on the process of justice and accountability and until the criminals are not held accountable for brutality, there will be more resentment risks.
He said that the Rohingya oppressed and the living will not get their past back and if they don't get justice they will not be able to return to their future in the form of a constructive manner.
"My country is fully committed to the process of accountability, and we are working closely with the ICJ, IIMM and ICC, I call on all other member states to cooperate with the international judicial system working in this poison," said Sheikh Hasina.
