Abu Taher, Ramganj Representative:
Police have arrested two leaders including Upazila Jubo League and Volunteer League in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act and Explosives Control Act in Ramganj of Laxmipur.
The arrested are former president of Ramganj Government College Chhatra League and member of Upazila Jubo League Morshedul Amin Babu (38). Ahmad Mia is the son of deceased Nurul Amin of Bishnavallabhpur village of Lamchar union of Babu upazila. The other is Rashed Alam Bhuiyan, senior joint convener of Upazila Swachhasevak League, he is the son of Samchul Haque of Sonapur village of Sonapur village of the municipality.
According to the police, on Thursday (July 31) around 10:30 pm, they were arrested in a raid based on secret information from the front of Daspara High School.
On Friday (August 1) afternoon, when the arrested were produced in Lakshmipur court, the judge ordered them to be sent to jail.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramganj police station. Abul Bashar said, “Their locations were identified through secret information based on old cases. The two were arrested later in the night. They were sent to court today.”
