A fisherman named Zainal Majhi (30) was shot dead by smart forces in the Kachikhali-Katka area of Sundarbans adjacent to Baleshwar river without paying Maswara. The injured Zainal was brought to Patharghata Upazila Health Complex with the help of Kachikhali station.
The incident took place at around 3 am on Wednesday (September 13) at 3:00 am in Kachikhali-Katka area of Sundarbans. The injured jailer's house is in Ruhita village of Patharghata union of Patharghata upazila of Barguna. His father's name is A. Rashid. Patharghata Upazila Health Complex was shifted to Barisal for better treatment with first aid.
The injured Zainal said that the smart forces of the forest department had to be given fishing in Kachikhali-Katka area of Sundarbans adjacent to the Baleshwar river. The smart forces chased them for not paying the current month.
Patharghata Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty, Rubaiyat Ali said, "Zainal has a bullet in his hand. He has been sent to Barisal for better treatment in critical condition.
Several fishermen, who did not wish to be named, said that earlier the pirates could be fished safely once a year, and now the smart forces made by the government have to pay thirty to forty thousand rupees every month, if they don't pay, they are harassed in various ways and sent to jail with false cases.
Confirming the matter, Barguna District Fishermen Trawler Owners Association President Golam Mostafa Chowdhury said that if you want to catch fish in Sundarban area, you have to pay money to the smart forces if you don't pay. Patharghata police station investigation OC Saifuzzaman said, "I have heard that a fisherman was shot by the smart forces of the forest department, but he was sent to Barisal before we went to the hospital."
