Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
He said this to reporters after the meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement at the Secretariat on Thursday (January 2).
The finance adviser said, ‘VAT has been increased on various products not to meet the conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), but for the sake of increasing the revenue.’
‘The decision to impose 15 percent VAT on 43 types of goods and services, including restaurants on the three stars, will not affect the general public. The hotel has not been increased on the restaurants. The prices of the goods will not be affected much.’
In response to a question, Salehuddin Ahmed said, ‘In the new fiscal year, the economy will return to the economy, including the banking sector. Even if the airline is said to be somewhat less, it will be less supported by many countries. Banks will be given adequate support. In the next budget, the allocation for education and health will be increased.’
