Developing countries like Bangladesh affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, war and water change Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon international organizations including the World Bank to strengthen their cooperation to face these challenges.
Axel van Trotsenberg, Managing Director (Operations) of the World Bank, had a courtesy call on Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister's Office on Monday morning (Jan. 23).
Later, Prime Minister's speech writer Nazrul Islam briefed reporters, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the Zoroa-Ukraine war has hit the country after the coronavirus pandemic, especially in the country like Bangladesh, as a result of the increase in the price of fuel and food and the increase in transportation.
He said Bangladesh was growing more than 8 percent before Covid hit. After the coronavirus outbreak, we gradually improved, but the Russian-Ukraine war was hindered.
Country-developed countries are facing negative impacts on water changes The Prime Minister said that the country is under the negative impact of water change, the Prime Minister said, "They should be affected by the affected countries. He said Bangladesh's efforts to counter the impact of water change through various supports to the affected people, including green bastion, sustainable construction, and the construction of green bastion on the coast from their own funds.
Highlighting the current world situation, World Bank Managing Director (Operations) Axel Van Trotsenberg said, "There are challenges in front of developing countries including Bangladesh. He emphasized on creating employment for the new generation of these countries."
Axel van Trotsenberg said that the World Bank will continue to support Bangladesh, since 1972, the World Bank has been with Bangladesh and will continue to do so.
Regarding the visit to Dhaka, the managing director of the World Bank said that the main purpose of this visit is to strengthen the partnership with Bangladesh. Axel Van Trotsenberg praised the development of Bangladesh under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina and said that the great development of Bangladesh in the past is unbelievable.
In this context, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the dream of the father of the nation was a prosperous Sonar Bangla free from hunger and poverty. We are trying to fulfill that dream by ensuring a better and better life for people.
