Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith has proposed to impose tax on BU-cigarettes like every time to discourage smoking.
The proposed budget has fixed the price of 10-sized low-level cigarettes at Rs 32, with the supplementary duty at 55 percent. Currently, the lower level is Rs 27 and the supplementary duty is 52 percent. As a result of the increase, the price of low-level cigarettes can be 50 pats per Shalaka.
The price of the cigarette in the middle level has been increased from Tk 45 to Tk 48 and the supplementary duty is 63 percent to 63 percent. On the other hand, the supplementary duty of high-level cigarettes has not been increased to 65 percent. But the price has been reduced from Tk 70 to Tk 75.
In this way, the price of filtered electricity has been increased in the proposed budget. But the price of the filter without filter has been kept unchanged. The price of 10 syllable filtered BSE has been fixed from 6 taka to 7 taka and 20 taka from 12 taka to 15 taka, the money minister has fixed 15 taka from 15 taka, i.e., the money minister will be able to spend 15 taka from 12 taka.
On the other hand, the proposed budget has fixed the price of betel-like bean-enhancing jorda. The finance minister has fixed the price of 25 rupees per 10 grams of jorda. That is, the same method will not be available in the future.
