The World Health Organization (WHO) has advised Bangladesh to declare a lockdown and a state of emergency in the wake of the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Metor Mohammad Saeed Khokon was advised by the representatives of the world organization on Saturday afternoon.
DSCC Mayor Saeed Khokon held a meeting with representatives of the World Health Organization and the Communicable Discuss Control and Protection (SDCP) at his residence in Banani in the capital. At the end of the meeting, Saeed Khokon said that their advice will be presented to the highest government i.e. the Prime Minister.
In the meeting, the country director of the World Health Organization of Bangladesh Dr. Bernard Jurs Rana, head of emergency public health department Dr. El Sakka Hamman, Cdcp's United States Country Representative Dr. Michael Friedman, Prime Minister's personal physician Dr. ABM Abdullah, Chief Health Officer of DSCC Brigadier General Sharif Ahmed were present.
After the meeting, Saeed Khokon briefed the journalists and said that the advice given by the World Health Organization is that the country is Declaring lockdown, at least a partial lockdown, if not fully, and a state of emergency.
DSCC Bidati Metor Mohammad Saeed Khokon is briefing the journalists, ‘We have also seen that in the countries where Lockdown has been done Or a state of emergency has been imposed, there are new cases of infections under control, and new infections have been reduced, so we have informed them that they will present their advice to the Prime Minister, as only he can take this decision as the head of the government.’
"We have to work in two ways to deal with this situation, one, the government will take its steps, which the government is taking, and two, our people should be aware."
At this time, the country director of the World Health Organization of Bangladesh Dr. Bernard Jurs Rana said, "The biggest security at this time is to keep ourselves safe.
