Bangladesh does not want to destroy friendship with India in the water management of Teesta river. But the Teesta project will be given priority in the country's interest, said the Minister of Water Resources. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie.
He said these things on Monday (August 17) morning in the joint campaign of Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUTE) and Ministry of Water Resources on the topic of ‘Tista River's Sustainable Management’.
The minister said that BNP will implement the government's promise for the people of Teesta Paschi. The Teesta Maha Project has already conducted several seminars. The geographical challenge of Bangladesh has been raised, the government is working to overcome it.
He said the Teesta project The government feels challenging and if the project is not implemented, the people of Teesta Pad will face more problems, according to the movement of the river, he said, he said.
Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie said that the Teesta project will be integrated and all the plans of the government will be far-reaching and the opinion of water experts is being given more priority in this regard.
Regarding the relationship with India, he said, ‘We don't want friendship with India to be destroyed.’ They will pay attention to our interests. Bangladesh will also welcome the technical support of foreign countries interested in the Teesta project, he said.
The discussions have highlighted the artificial navigation crisis caused by the various dams, barrages and dams that have been brought up in the flow of the Teesta river from the source. The negotiators highlighted the poison of the river and the poison of agriculture. They also criticized the artificial barriers created in the natural course of the river. They emphasized on an integrated solution through the Joint River Commission.
