Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the country's first communication route tunnel built under the much-anticipated Karnaphuli River in Chittagong, which has opened the first swatch tunnel at the bottom of the river.
The Prime Minister unveiled the plaque of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tunnel by pressing the switch at the Patenga end of the city on Saturday at 11:41 A. The nameplate was installed on the right side of the entrance of the tunnel. A similar nameplate was installed in the Tunnel Plaza area of Chittagong's Annotara Upazila.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the excavation of the tunnel on February 24. The tunnel was inaugurated after four years.
After the inauguration of the tunnel, the fireworks were celebrated in the event, and the guests were welcomed with applause.
Earlier, the Prime Minister arrived in Chittagong by helicopter and later went to the Patenga end of the tunnel, inaugurated the tunnel by unveiling the plaque, then entered the Gaibahar tunnel carrying the Prime Minister, and the Prime Minister Annota went to the toll plaza in the tunnel.
