Three people died after the ground collapsed while working on the bridge under construction in Faridpur, while four others were injured.
The accident took place in Jamadardangi area of Sadarpur Upazila of the Local Government Engineering Directorate around 1 pm on Wednesday.
The deceased are - Kabirpur area of Faridpur Sadar Upazila. Antar (20), Julhas Mir (24) of Kujukdia area and Udaipur village of Bagerhat district. Jaber (28).
One of the injured is said to be in serious condition and has been admitted to Sadarpur and Faridpur Medical College Hospitals.
Locals said that the work of a bridge in Jamadar Dangi area of Bhashanchar union of Sadarpur upazila of the district was when the workers were working on the rod barrier under the bridge, and three people died on the spot due to the soil stack next to the bridge.
The condition of one of the four is critical, while the news of the accident has been quickly rescued by the help of the police and locals.
Abdus Salam, station master of Sadarpur Fatur Service, said, after receiving the news, we quickly ran to the rescue and started the rescue work.
The construction of this bridge in LGED's (Jamadar Bhata Sadarpur) is working as a contractor named Mesas Asif Imtiaz, General Secretary of Faridpur District Awami League Shah Md. Ishtiaq Arif's brother.
Sadarpur on this Upazila Executive Md. "We visited the scene immediately after receiving the news, said Ahsan Mahmud Russell, who is very shocked.
He also said that legal action will be taken if there is any error or negligence in this work.
Meanwhile, Sardar, a worker working on the bridge, said that we had repeatedly informed the contractor, but they did not take any initiative to remove the soil, but they did not do it, but they were threatening us and making us work.
Sadarpur LGED engineer Azimuddin said that the construction of this bridge is being done by the contractor named M/s Asif Imtiaz.
He said, the tender price of this bridge of 25 meters length was Tk 4 crore 16 lakh. We have supervised the work of the 25 meters length, and then the poison will be further investigated and why this happened.
