Faridpur District Representative
Every year, targeting the month of Ramadan, farmers cultivate Bangi and Lalmir in the vast areas of Sadarpur Upazila of Faridpur.
But the weather is not favorable, compared to last year, the yield is much less this time.
Farmers said that the yield of Bangi-Lalmi has been low due to severe drought, insects and viruses.
Abdul Jalil, a Lalmi farmer of Katakhali village in Bhashanchar unit, said that he cultivated redmi on one acre of land this year and the yield was low.
He hopes that if the price is good, he will be able to recover the loss.
Another farmer, Shafiq Matbar, said that the cost of production of Lalmir was twice as much land as he planted last year, and then the yield was not so good again. If he did not get a good price, he would face losses.
front-line Upazila Agriculture Officer Bidhan Raḟ said, this year, the upazila has been cultivated in 500 acres of land. Lalmi-Bangir cultivation has been done more than last year. It is expected that the yield will be 35 tons per hectare. But if the price is good in the market, the farmers will not have to bear the loss burden.
