Mitanmar has agreed to take back 180,000 Rohingya in the first phase of Rohingya repatriation, which was announced on Friday (April 4) through a post on the Facebook account of the Chief Advisor.
On Friday, in Bangkok, on the sidelines of the sixth BIMSTEC summit Myanmar's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister U Than Shiu's high representative of the chief adviser. Khalilur disclosed this information to Rahman.
It is said that the Myanmar authorities have confirmed to Bangladesh that they will take back 180,000 of the 800,000 registered Rohingyas who have taken refuge in Bangladesh.
It also said that Bangladesh had provided the original list of Rohingyas in six phases from 2018 to 2020. The picture-name remains to be verified for the final verification of 70,000 Rohingyas.
In the meeting, High Representative Khalilur Rahman expressed his condolences to the victims of the earthquake in Myanmar, saying Bangladesh is ready to send more humanitarian aid to the people affected by the disaster.
