The garden owners of Khord Bausa village of Bagha upazila of Rajshahi have handed over the check for the bird's nest.
In a letter signed by Deepak Kumar Chakraborty, Deputy Secretary of Forest-2 Branch of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Water Change, in a letter signed on November 1, 2020, he ordered five owners of 38 mango trees to be paid 3 lakh 13 thousand per annum from the office of the underunity sector of the forest department.
It is mentioned in the payment letter that the mango orchard shamukhkhol bird has been coming for the past three years. Due to natural reasons or any equal bird can leave the place and move to another new place. Therefore, the next action will be taken in this poison after monitoring the next few years. However, the year the bird does not sit, there will be no compensation. The owners have claimed that the birds have been coming to the garden for the past three years. Another garden owner, Shahadat Hossain, said that although there is no history in the breeding of this bird, it was possible to breed the village of Khord Bausa by the canal. But to take care of the garden, he cut the nest of the mango tree and broke the nest of the bird. As a result, thousands of snails were threatened by some people.
Supreme Court lawyer Pragya Parmita filed a retreatment in the court to declare the bird's nest to be a bird's nest, and the High Court ordered that the bird's nest cannot be destroyed, and the High Court directed the District Commissioner and Upazila Nirbahi Officer to submit a report to find out the extent of the damage.
Bagha Upazila Agriculture Officer Shafiullah Sultan said that 38 mango trees have nest birds. The mango trees have been given a report by determining the potential price and care of the mango tree and reporting the amount of damage.
Rajshahi Forest Conservation Officer Mehedi Hasan said, following the Ministry's letter, the instructions have been handed over to the office of the Chief Forest Conservation Officer (CCF) and the check has been handed over.
Bagha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Papita Sultana said that since the last four years, the villagers including Rafiqul Islam, Shahadat Hossain, Bichchad Ali, Nasim Anjum, Saiful Islam have been voluntarily guarding the birds.
