In order to protect Jatka and increase the production of hilsa, the government has banned all types of fishing including hilsa from March 1 to April 30 in the Padma-Meghna river in Chandpur.
Chandpur From Shatanal in Matlab Uttar Upazila to Char Alexander of Laxmipur district, there will be a ban on 100 km of shelters and no fishing, stocking, crat-selling and transportation of any fish including hilsa.
According to the sources of Chandpur District Fisheries Officer's office, the district's Matlab North, Matlab South, Chandpur Sadar and Haimchar upazilas have been listed as 51 thousand 190 fishermen. The two months of these fishermen will be given sewing machines, cattle and other materials as alternative employment for 4 months from February to May.

We have discussed with all the community people including fishermen, fishermen organizations, public representatives and all community people. If a fisherman collects fish in violation of the law, they will be fined 5 thousand rupees under the Fisheries Act, 2 years rigorous imprisonment or both.
Subrata Kumar Halder, Superintendent of Naval Police in Chandpur Region, said, "We have already discussed and coordinated with the district administration, upazila administration, fisheries department, public representatives, coast guard and jail leaders. If Jatka is extracted in violation of the law, legal action will be taken and the police of all police stations and units of the naval areas will be responsible for the security of the police in the whole of the naval area.
Chandpur District Commissioner Md. Abdus Sabur Mandal said, "Hilsha is the branding of hilsa. So the people of Chandpur are the right to protect this hilsa. We have held an awareness meeting for the people of all walks of life. We will not be able to keep the reputation of the past intact. This program will definitely be successful if everyone has the cooperation.
