Banesh Richil (75), a farmer who was injured in an elephant attack on the Durgapur border in Netrakona, died on Thursday (December 8) while undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Locals said that on Wednesday (December 7), the wild elephants were destroying the crops while guarding the paddy in the border area. The herd of elephants was seriously injured and the locals came to the upazila health complex and rescued him. His condition is critical.
Durgapur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rajib Ul Ahsan said, ‘On the order of the Deputy Commissioner, we have given the money immediately so that they can cremate him. In this way, the entire area is being miked with awareness.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Anjana Khan Majlish said that a quick plan will be taken to solve the border problem.
Also, on November 15, a farmer died in an attack on an elephant at the Panchgao border of Kalmakanda.
