On 30th January (Thursday) the polling will be held in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and the entire election will be held on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced the schedule of the election in a press conference at the midata center of the election building on Sunday (December 22).
He said, the last date for filing the nomination is on December 31 (Tuesday), the verification of the nomination paper is January 2 (Thursday). Candida withdrawal is on 9th January (Thursday). Symbol allocation is 10th January (Friday). And polling will be held on January 30.
The appeal authority can be appealed against the decision of the returning officer on January 12. The Election Commission has appointed the Commissioner of Dhaka Division as the Appellate Authority.
EC Joint Secretary Abul Kasem as Returning Officer of DNCC and Joint Secretary Abdul Baten as Returning Officer of DSCC have been appointed as Returning Officers of DNCC.
DNCC is made up of 54 general terraces and 18 reserved women's ORDs, which will hold polling in 7,516 polling booths in 1,349 polling stations, and a total of 30,35,621 voters will get the opportunity to vote for their franchise.
DSCC has 75 general OTERARD and 25 reserved terraces, polling will be held in 5,998 polling booths of 1,124 polling stations, a total of 23 lakh 67 thousand 488 voters will get the opportunity to vote in this election.
The two city elections of Dhaka were held simultaneously on April 28, 2015. And when North Metro Anisuk Haque died, the by-election was held on February 28 this year, the day was Thursday.
According to the City Corporation Act, the corporation is being held for the next five years from the first meeting and the next five years to vote.
The EC also conducted the polling of the Chittagong City Corporation elections on April 28, 2015. The city's matad will end on August 5, 2020. The commission says the city will hold polls in March.
