Prominent freedom fighter and founder of Gonoshasthaya Kendra. Zafrullah Chowdhury is no more. Inna Lillahi and Inna Ilaihi Raziun, he was kept on ventilation for several days.
82 years old Dr. Zafrullah had been suffering from kidney complications for many years. A few days ago, his old age complications worsened. He was admitted to the critical condition on Wednesday at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhanmondi of the capital. He was undergoing treatment there until his death. Last Sunday, his medical board was formed as the chief coordinator of the medical board was Professor Brigadier General (Retd.) Mamun Mostafi.
In 1971 Zafrullah Chowdhury returned home from the United Kingdom and took part in the liberation war under Agartala Guerilla Training in India. He established Bangladesh Field Hospital and managed it.
After the liberation war, an institution named after the hospital was called in Gosat, after discussing with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the name of Gonoshasthaya Kendra was decided by the hospital as well as pharmaceutical manufacturing companies. He also played a role in the formulation of medicine policy for the first time.
