BNP Acting Chairperson Tarek Rahman met with Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus visiting London and held their meeting in a very cordial atmosphere.
Later, the press wing of the chief advisor and the media cell of BNP issued a joint statement.
It is said that Tariq Rahman proposed to the chief advisor to hold the election before next year's Ramadan.
Party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia also thinks that it is better if the elections are held at that time.
The chief adviser said he had announced the election in the first half of April next year.
If all the preparations are completed, elections can be held in the week before the start of Ramadan in 2026. In that time, adequate progress will be required to achieve reforms and trials.
Tariq Rahman welcomed the position of the chief advisor and thanked him on behalf of the party. The chief advisor also thanked Mr. Tarek Rahman for the fruitful discussion, the statement said.
