17-year-old Naim died after being hit by a dirt truck of Dhaka South City Corporation in front of Gulistan Hall Market around 12:15 pm on Wednesday.
He was a second year student in Notre Dame College. He lived with his family at his home in Kamrangirchar Jhaulahati, while Naeem was the youngest of the two brothers.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Outpost Inspector Md. Bachchu Mia said that when a few pedestrians and students of Notre Dame College brought Naeem to the hospital, the doctor declared him dead.
Abdullah Al Mamun, one of those who went to the hospital after the accident, said that a garbage truck of the city corporation going to Baitul Mukarram hit the market and crushed Naeem.
Hearing the news of Naeem's death, father Shah Alam rushed to the hospital, crying, “My Thai will go to college, the world is gone, the gold pieces are mine.” Shah Alam works in book business in Nilakshet, village home in Kazirkhil village of Ramganj upazila of Laxmipur district.
