The police have arrested a person named Abdus Sattar in Rajshahi for being involved in militant activities, which is called the second-in-in command of the banned militant organization Jamutatul Mujahideen Bangladesh-JMB.
According to the police, he was arrested from his house in Sankota village of Ma'i Uniton in Bagmara on Tuesday morning, he was known as a confidant of JMB's death sentence leader Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai, which has been accused of militant affiliation.
Locals know that Abdus Sattar was active around 2004 with JMB top leader Shatakh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai. The incident of torture of the locals in Bagmara was his direct involvement, and several people died in the torture.
Police say that around 2004, Bagmara JMB members killed 10 to 15 people in the torture of the JMB and he used to take part in every operation of Samat JMB. Even if Bangla Bhai and Shakh Abdur Rahman were caught, Sattar went to Per Pet, and even if a case against his associates, he was not accused.
After the top leaders of the militant organization were arrested, Sattar went into hiding for some time but later returned to Bai.Sattar has not been accused of militant affiliation, but Bagmara Thana has five cases of robbery against him.
Bagmara police station inspector (investigation) Abul Kalam Azad said that on Tuesday afternoon JMB member Abdus Sattar was sent to jail through the court.
In the northern region in the middle of 2003, JMB chief Shakh Abdur Rahman, on the advice of Shura Committee chief Siddiqul Islam Bangla Bhai, started working under the leadership of the militant organization Jagrat Muslim Janata Bangladesh or JMJB. Later they were known as JMB. In 2004, the workers of the organization became reckless in Bagmara and Naogaon Atrai-Raninagar.
