Kalita Upazila Chitra of Nail A crocodile was caught in the river six feet tall.
On Monday (December 19) afternoon, the villagers caught the crocodile from Chitra river near the brick kiln of Jobata of Kharita village of Kalita upazila.
It is learned that the crocodile was caught in the net and kept in the Peoli Uniyeon Parishad (UP) premises and was kept in the premises of the crocodile.
Eyewitnesses said that on Monday afternoon, the workers found the crocodile in the river adjacent to the brick kiln of Joba in the village of Kharjata village.
In this regard, Peli UP Chairman Md. Jarjid Molya told BanglaNews that on Monday afternoon, the workers of the brickyard informed others about seeing the crocodile, and 10/12 people, including Azimul Molya of Kharita village, were all around. The crocodile was surrounded by fake water and caught the crocodile, which was then kept on alert in the premises of the Unitn Parishad.
Amjad Hossain, Forester of Kalitha Upazila Social Forest Department, told BanglaNews that the crocodile was visited by the wildlife extension and Nature Conservation Department Khulna Range Officer Mahinur Rahman came to the spot. They consider it to be a rare species of freshwater. It is believed that the water in the river is reduced and it has been in the sunny season.
Kalita police station officer-in-charge (OC) Sheikh Tassem Alam said, "After receiving the news, we have confirmed the security of the crocodile at the spot and later it was handed over to the Khulna region officials through the Kalita Upazila Social Forest Department.
